1. If the wedding is abroad we advise you to keep the hen and stag a simple affair. Don’t have it abroad too or do what I did have it a few days before the wedding in the wedding location, this way everyone is already there and it won’t be a massive extra expense to guests. I would also advise you to give more notice to guests as going abroad requires more planning like flights, cover in work and hotels.
2. Are you allowing children to the reception? Really think about this, as if you are not allowing kids to come the wedding guests will have to fork out for a babysitter and incur those costs.
3. Hire a bus to transport your guests to and from the wedding. This will save them spending money on taxis and ensure all the guests get to the reception and back safe and sound.
4. Instead of spending money on wedding favours, why not put the money behind the bar instead. This will save guests a couple of bob throughout the night and everyone loves a free bar.
5. Ensure you don’t go above and beyond with the budget and don’t rely on guests contributions to cover it, this will cause pressure on you and we don’t want that on the biggest day of your life, do we?
