Many couple decide to get engaged at Christmas time, we can see why. Christmas and New Years is a great time to pop the question to a loved one. It’s a time for family, friends and get togethers so this time of year is perfect for many couples to make that special step in their relationship.

Many women and men choose to announce their engagement on social media, it’s faster than sending a letter or calling everyone you know after all 🙂 So it’s time to tell the world but wait…. There are a few things that you should really consider before tweeting, snapping or popping a post on Facebook.

1. We recommend telling your nearest and dearest first, we don’t want a favourite aunty or pal in America finding out the big news through a post on a social media platform, this will not go down well, trust us.  
2. Ensure you give your other half the heads up before you post. This will ensure they have told all their people before you share the wonderful news to the world.
3. Be careful and respectful of others – Your best mate might be having a hard time or your sister might have just broke up with her boyfriend recently so be careful of this fact. If this means holding off shouting about your news for a couple of days, so be it.    
4. Try not announce it around a close family or friends wedding- we don’t want to go there and please don’t even think of telling people at an actual wedding of someone else’s.   
5. If someone else has recently got engaged try keep your recent engagement under wraps – we want all the attention girls.
